POLICE PROTECTION FOR "VIJESTI" JOURNALIST
Podgorica, 03.07.2014 - The Government of Montenegro granted the status of a protected person to journalist Tufik Softic, after the Agency for National Security (ANS) assessed that his safety could be compromised, it was announced in Podgorica today.
The Commission for monitoring of investigations of unsolved cases of attacks and the murders of journalists has requested earlier from the police minister Rasko Konjevic that SoftIc be provided with police security and maximum protection for himself and his family.
Softic was attacked twice, and neither attack was solved. In 2007 he was beaten in front of his home in Berane, and in August of last year a bomb was thrown at his house.
Softic wrote for years about drug smuggling through Montenegro.
