"VIJESTI" JOURNALIST FINALLY GETS POLICE PROTECTION

28. 02. 2014 (Srna, Mondo) - Journalist of "Vijesti" and "Monitor" Tufik Softic from Berane was assigned police protection after an evaluation by the Montenegrin Agency for National Security (ANS) stated that his life was in danger.

Such an estimate was provided by ANS after the Commission to monitor investigation of unsolved cases of attacks on and murders of journalists asked the Montenegrin Police Minister Rasko Konjevic to provide police security for Softic and maximum protection for him and his whole family, based on suspicion that his safety has became further compromised.

The last attack against Softic occurred on 11 August, at around 10 p.m, when an explosive device was thrown at his house. Police has not solved this case.

Softic was previously brutally beaten in the evening of 1 November 2007, at the entrance of his home, when two masked attackers beat him with batons on the head, causing him serious injuries. This case has not been resolved either.
