SELECTIVE COMPETITION FOR PROJECT-BASED CO-FINANCING OF MEDIA IN STARA PAZOVA

Belgrade, 12.2.2015 - The Coalition of Journalists' and Media Associations (NUNS, UNS, NDNV, Local Press and  ANEM) warns the public that the competition for project-based co-financing of media content of public interest in Stara Pazova is selective and contrary to the Law on Public Information and Media and it leaves out, with no grounds for it, electronic media and independent productions.

The Coalition of Journalists' and Media Associations calls on the Municipality of Stara Pazova to revoke the existing competition and call a new one that will include all the media, in accordance with the Law on Public Information and Media.

The competition in Stara Pazova was called only for print media, and it excludes TV and radio stations and web portals. Also, the competition prevents productions from participating in it since in the part of the call for proposals on the right to participate it is stated that only media publishers entered in the Media Register are eligible, but not „a legal person or an entrepreneur involved in the production of media content who submits evidence that the co-financed media content will be realised through the media", as the Law prescribes.

Therefore, the Coalition of Journalists' and Media Associations will not propose candidates for the selection panel in Stara Pazova.
