CALL TO RATEL, SOKOJ, AND OFPS & PI TO WAIVE FEES FOR FLOOD STRICKEN BROADCASTERS

In addition to other activities aimed at helping colleagues in areas affected by floods, today ANEM sent a letter to RATEL and collective organizations for the protection of copyright and related rights (SOKOJ and OFPS & PI) calling them to waive fees for one year for those broadcast media.

Also, ANEM called on SOKOJ and OFPS & PI to postpone the start of payment of debts, if any, to the end of the calendar year, or create different schedule for debt payment.

ANEM believes that timely , objective , and accurate reporting becomes all the more important in times of emergencies , including this one, caused by floods. Having in mind that radio and TV stations in areas affected by floods operate in very difficult circumstances , and that many of them are reporting on the situation in the flooded areas almost non-stop, ANEM expects RATEL and collective organization will accept this his call. At the same time, a similar call was sent to them by RRA , which has already sought approval from the Government to exempt 85 radio and TV stations from payment of license fees for one year .

Letters can be found (only in Serbian) here.
